Why I love Qi Gong

When I was in my 20's, I absolutely loved training in Danzan Ryu! At that time in my life, I had a lot less conscious awareness than I do today, and I might not have known exactly what I loved about training, or why. It could have been for many reasons, including the physical discipline, the community I was a part of, or the insatiable appetite I had for the wisdom and knowledge I was becoming steeped in. I would tell people how empowering it was to be able to throw a 200+ pound man, but there was so much more depth to it than my simple answer accounted for.

After moving back to Flagstaff, I had a difficult time being able to carry my practice with me, and it crushed my spirit immensely when I stopped training. I tried Tai Chi for awhile, and that provided enough familiarity as I attempted to transition into what would be the next phase of my life. Next I became steeped in the Korean Sun Do practices, which provided the spiritual richness I sought. Eventually I found Holden Qi Gong and knew immediately I was home.

I absolutely love how Qi Gong covers it all, a movement practice to help my physical body feel more loose and agile while alleviating the pain of too many joint injuries. The meditative elements are a non-negotiable aspect of my daily life, for it helps keep me centered, grounded, and positively focusing on the life I choose to work towards. It provides me with a pathway for helping others along their own healing journey, which for those who struggle with health conditions it can be extremely empowering in its own way. Being able to feel the energy within as well as around my body is amazing, not to mention the peace and joy I feel upon entering into the flow state.

What I love most about training in Qi Gong is that it ties all the various pathways of my life and understanding together. Danzan Ryu was my first language, and I may always be a martial artist at the core, but Holden Qi Gong helps me to integrate all of it, the physical with the spiritual. It is truly a way of life, and is my greatest joy to participate in the life that emanates from me as I evolve in my art.

Enough about me, why is it that YOU love Qi Gong?
