As I was pondering the journey through the course of my life, through business ownership, seeking clarity on what my next steps should be, I was suddenly awestruck by how fascinating it all is. I was looking back, decade by decade, noticing that the biggest blessing and breakthroughs of my life were hidden just out of sight. Often, I had no idea what was to come next.
As a teenager in Wisconsin, I had no idea my mom would take me away into the magical land of Sedona when I was 17. Journeying to South Carolina I had no idea I would stumble into a Danzan Ryu dojo, nor how it would provide me with a solid foundation that would stay with me my whole life. I never would have foreseen worldly travel or educational pursuits in my 30's. Now here I sit in amazement as I consider our Humphrey's Healing Center location, or what could possibly come into the next chapter of life.
When I am able to step back and take in the wonder of the journey, I realize deeply that there isn't anything to worry about. Yet I spend entirely too much of my precious life force energy worrying endlessly about details that are out of my control. It can be all-consuming, eating up the peace and serenity that would otherwise be everywhere present. When indulging the incessant concern over details, I fail to recognize that things tend to work out. When I let go and trust the energy, everything required unfolds in perfect time and this effortless ease manages to line things up for me.
I often have to laugh at myself because I have been dumbfounded over how challenging business ownership and growing into this new phase as employer has been. In my mind, it was all smooth sailing, no hiccoughs in the steady flow of one major win to another. That's cute, huh? I would have to argue that one of my greatest assets, as well as dangerous pitfalls, is that I am and always have been a dreamer who exists in her own world.
My philosophy is that both exist simultaneously. It is hard, but also easy. I also believe that the internal work is what makes the difference, and there is always more work to do. As I look at how to find balance between moving in the direction I choose while letting go and following the energy, I feel calm. I smile to myself and shift into enjoying the journey once again. After all, I have no idea what sort of beautiful blessing is just around the corner hidden from view, but I can't wait to find out!
