I don't know about you, but I sure know I can be hard on myself and get down about all the things I'm not doing while completely ignoring the things I am doing. This is something I help other people with as I work with them, acknowledging all of the little victories that go unnoticed, yet it is super easy for me to overlook my over tiny feats.
I often beat myself up for not doing everything exactly as I intended to. I fall short in certain areas at times and the "shoulds" can rent space in my head so easily. When I get into this state, my best step is typically to pause and reflect on the journey that brought me to right here. For example, I can say I don't blog as well as I used to, and I am hard on myself for not doing more. But when I stop and reflect I can see how I am doing my best to keep up on it while other projects are being given priority. It was really previous blog posts that gave the bulk of my two books, Business Energetics and The Self Divided the bulk of their content, and now Business Energetics is getting ready to begin the publication process. How could that be considered "not blogging enough."
It's so interesting how we can spin things in our heads and focus on our shortcomings when they are so few in comparison to who we are. It is so easy to focus on the negative while filtering through that to actually see the truth takes diligent work! For me, it has helped to create a team of people who help me see things accurately rather than skewed through the lens of negative thought distortions. I have a life coach of my own that helps me to see my business growth and plan out my next best steps, and I have spiritual teachers who guide me through the unseen world and be better able to trust the process. I also surround myself with people who love and support me and do what they can to help me succeed.
What are some of the things that help you filter through thought distortions and see your next step clearly?
